In 1796-7, a revolutionary flax mill was constructed alongside the newly built canal at Ditherington, Shrewsbury SY1 2SX. The public interest and awareness of the development led to the formation of the Friends of Flax Mill Maltings. The Friends have flourished and taken responsibility for conducting guided tours, open days, lectures, liaison with the community, schools and related organisation.
