Volunteer

Volunteers will always be an integral part of the Friends and the wider Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings story. All of our projects and activities involve volunteers at every level.

Volunteering is not only about supporting the activities of the Friends and being a part of a great project, but about having fun, learning something new, augmenting your CV and meeting new people.

We are always looking for new volunteers to get involved with the Friends.

Trustees and Specialist Advisers

The Friends would like to recruit some new trustees. We are undertaking a significant role in the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings partnership and need a strong trustee board to steer us through the redevelopment project and direct the development of the Friends. This will be an exciting and challenging opportunity and the Friends need trustees with specific skills including:

  • Charity Financial Management
  • Property Development or Design
  • Business Start Up – tourism or heritage sector
  • Legal and Risk Management

If you are interested in becoming a trustee contact us for further information.

As well as developing our trustee board, the Friends have identified areas where we will require additional support and guidance. We are looking to recruit specialised advisers to act on a pro bono basis to support our organisational development. These advisers will work directly with the board and staff team and where appropriate with the wider volunteer base and partners.

We are currently looking for advisers with experience in:

  • Heritage Redevelopment
  • Charity Financial Management
  • Project risk management
  • Fundraising

If you feel you have skills you can bring to the Friends in this capacity please contact us.

Our volunteer roles are based around our current needs, however many of our volunteers are involved in many of our projects and take on a number of different roles.

If you are interested in these roles please complete the volunteer registration form and return to us at [email protected]

We always aim to be supportive and flexible to the needs and interests of our volunteers so if you have a specific skill or interest that you would like to share, please get in touch.

You never know you might be rewarded for your involvement with more than our standard tea and cakes!
