Flaxmill Maltings Community Arts open exhibition
10th,11th and 12th May 2013.
The exhibition is being arranged and managed by the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings Community Arts Group (FMCA). The exhibition will be staged in the Dye House and Cross Mill at the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings over the weekend of the 11th and 12th of May. This will form part of the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings Open Weekend, which has in the past attracted up to 2,000 people. A private viewing will be staged on Friday 10th May, which all artists and their guests will be invited to attend.

Terms and Conditions
Eligibility:
The title of the show is “Revitalize!”, and submissions should reflect this theme, but the subject matter is entirely up to the submitting artists.
It is open to anyone internationally, working in any media.
The exhibition has two sections:
Physical Art work
Digital and virtual images and films
Entry:
Applicants can submit up to five physical pieces of work in any media and/or 15 digital images or up to a five minute film.
Artists are welcome to submit applications to each exhibition, but a separate application must be made for the physical and digital exhibitions.
There is a suggested donation of £5 per application, which should be included with your form as a cheque payable to Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings, cash or by bank transfer if submitted electronically (email for bank details). Donations are not compulsory, but will help towards funding this and future events.
Application forms are to be received by Thursday 25th April 2013 for guaranteed entry.
All pieces will need to be delivered to our registered office, Flaxivity, during the submission periods:
Monday 29th April – Thursday 2nd May 9 -5pm
Tuesday 30th April 6 -8pm
Thursday 2nd May 6-8pm
FMCA aim to include all pieces in the open exhibition. However, due to space limitations we can only guarantee that two physical pieces per artist will be included. We aim to include all digital images and films.
Acceptance of the work shall be at the discretion of FMCA.

Preparation and submission of Work:
All work should be submitted at the times outlined above.
All work should be appropriated framed/presented for installation at the artist’s expense and packaged to protect them during storage and installation. Any other means of presentation, for example plinths, must also be provided by the artist.
Digital and virtual work should be provided on an appropriate storage device. Projectors will be provided to show the work, but any specialist equipment will need to be provided at the artist’s expense and liability. Details of this should be included on your application form.
All work should be labelled with the artists name, title of the piece and details of it’s sale price or if it is not for sale.
Work will be held at Flaxivity prior to being taken to the exhibition location. Artists will be informed if any of the work will not be included in the exhibition and this can be collected from Flaxivity at the times outlined in the collection section.
Installation:
FMCA will install art work unless the Artist has special requirements in which case the Artist shall install their work at a time agreed with FMCA. Any special requirements for installation should be included on your application form and submission record.
Exhibitors must agree to abide by all health and safety regulations in force on the site including the wearing of hard hats at all times in designated areas.
In the event of disagreement over installing work, FMCA reserves the right to make the final decision. Reasonable assistance with installing the exhibition may be agreed.
Sales and Commission:
Pieces can be sold during the exhibition and your submission record should detail the cost or if they are not for sale.
FMCA will take a 20% commission of any sales of work. Artists offering to volunteer to support the exhibition event will have their commission on sales reduced to 10%.
In the event of a sale FMCA will take the commission fee as a deposit from the buyer, and put them in touch with the artists to arrange payment of the balance, and transfer of the work.
Collection:
The artist is responsible for arranging collection of their work at the end of the exhibition. Work will be available for collection from:

After this time the FMCA reserve the right to store or dispose of the work as they deem appropriate. Any costs associated with this will be passed onto the artist.
Insurance and damages:
FMCA recommend that all artists take out adequate insurance to cover any damage or loss to their work. FMCA will not take out insurance to cover any of the work submitted to the exhibition.
FMCA will not be liable for any damage caused to works sent for exhibition occurring in the ordinary course of handling, whether such damage is caused by the negligence of the FMCA or otherwise.
Copyright and reproduction:
Copyright of all works remains the property of the Artist.
All pieces will be photographed by FMCA and records held for archiving and publicity purposes including inclusion our website and social media presence.
FMCA will not reproduce images at high resolution, or use any of the work for commercial purposes without requesting agreement from the artists.
Any enquiries for reproduction from third parties will be referred to the Artist.
Publicity:
The exhibition will be publicised through the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings website, social media and print publications.
We will also feature it in our partner publications and local, regional and specialised media where appropriate.
