The Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings and Oxford Archaeology North would like to invite volunteer diggers to take part in an archaeological dig at Ditherington Flax Mill between Tuesday 16th and Friday 26th April.
Training and full briefings will be given so that 'beginners' are welcome.
An excavation trench will be dug around a group of former outbuildings including a stable and a wash house. We hope to uncover some interesting archaeology and would like our volunteer diggers to add their comments to a daily Blog which will feature on the Friends website throughout the dig.
A week of post excavation work will begin on Monday 29th April and there will be opportunities for volunteers to be involved in cataloguing and drawing finds, photographic tasks and producing a record of this exciting event.
You may wish to limit your time to a half day sessions or volunteer for the full two weeks. We will endeavour to offer as many places as possible but please be aware that places are limited. If you would like to take part please contact Fay Bailey on 01743 360213 [email protected]
