Visitor Centre to re-open

PLEASE NOTE, final opening this year Saturday 26 September 2020

We are happy to announce the re-opening of the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings Visitor Centre on Saturdays from 1 August. Through careful planning we have been able to receive the Visit England "We're Good to Go" industry mark and our volunteers have indicated they are happy to return with the right measures in place.

This means we have certain guidelines to help us welcome you and receive you with our customary enthusiasm and expertise:

  • There is no need to pre-book, for the time being. A waiting area is in place to ensure there won't be too many people in the same space. Tours are not possible at the moment
  • We adhere to a 2 metre distance on site, please keep this distance between yourself and other people
  • Touch-free hand sanitising stations are available
  • A one-way system is in place through the Visitor Centre, please adhere to the signage
  • We will prop open doors where possible, and have windows open to aid air circulation
  • Face masks need to be worn indoors; these are available on entry
  • Interactive displays are cleaned after every visitor and the toilet will be cleaned every hour
  • Assistance dogs are welcome to all areas, but other dogs must be kept on a short lead and are allowed in external areas only
  • Please don't visit if you are experiencing any signs of COVID-19 (this includes a persistent cough, a temperature, or a loss of taste/smell)

.

Unfortunately we are not able at the moment to host tours on site. This is not solely due to social distancing measures, but also given the current phase of building works. However, during lockdown our staff and volunteers have become adept at giving presentations online, so if your group is interested in an entertaining and informative talk delivered to your group online, do get in touch with us

We are looking forward to see you, you won't believe the changes the site has seen over the past months.
