Flaxmill Maltings Community Arts open exhibition.
The exhibition will take place during the Heritage Open Days the Mill on the 8th & 9th of September from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a pre-view on the evening of the 7th of September from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm.
It is open to artists working in a wide range of media, including photography, visual arts, video, sculpture, textiles etc.
The exhibition will be mounted in the Dye and Stove House though other spaces may be available on request and subject to the overall operation of the Open Days.
A maximum of five pieces of work may be submitted, and work must, in some way, be themed within the broad range of activities related to the Flaxmill / Maltings. This can be as diverse as the buildings themselves, the processes involved in flax & linen production or malting & brewing, social history, transport, be it canals or railway, etc.
The work must be suitably framed or mounted and there is no entry fee.
At least two pieces of work per artist will be guaranteed a place, with potentially up to five per artist depending on total number of participants and hence, space available.
Applications must be received by 31st August. Late entries will be considered at the complete discretion of FMCA .
Work must be made available by the 5th of September so that hanging can take place on the 6th & 7th.
Works may be offered for sale. FMCA will put potential buyers in contact with artists to complete the sale. We ask for a 10% commission on all sales, which would be payable once the sale is complete.
The Mill will be made available for artists to visit by appointment on a number of days over the summer, to be confirmed.
