Hundreds of people joined us for first Family Fun day at the Flax Mill Maltings on Sunday 28th August. Responding to your feedback previous events we worked with our volunteers and partners to create a day that would keep the whole family entertained. We transformed the Flax Mill Maltings and were delighted to launch our new Family Trail.
Visitors young and old relished the challenge of exploring the site using the trail guide and completing the quizzes and challenges. Children of all ages got creative producing mini master pieces for our colouring competition. Postal entries are still being received and are bringing a smile to our faces and the Postman each morning.
It wasn’t only the children whose creative juices were flowing. Our tour guides were inspired by the Story Telling tours lead by, Fran O’Boyle. “It was great to see how he engaged with the children with the site and it’s heritage. I have already been talking to fellow tour guides and volunteers about how we create more family tours and bring the characters connected with the Flax Mill Maltings back to life.” Peter Dunhill, Tour Guide and Trustee.
“It was fantastic to see so many local families enjoying the Flax Mill Maltings. My personal highlight has to be the Flax Fields Village. I think we have some budding architects among our local community!” Fay Bailey, Development Officer
