Heritage Open Days
2014


Newsflash! 

New to this open weekend - we will be taking groups up to the top of the Jubilee tower to see and photograph fantastic views of the town and surrounds!
This is limited to 5 people at a time, so will be on a first come first served basis

Opening Times

  • Sat 13 September: 10:00-16:00
  • Sun 14 September: 10:00-16:00

 Once again we will be opening the Flaxmill Maltings complex for the Heritage open days in September. Guided tours will be available at regular intervals throughout the weekend. There will be interpretation and displays on the history, structure and uses of the buildings. Explore the social history of the Flaxmill Maltings and take part in learning and fun activities for all ages. There will be an art exhibition and live music on site. Refreshments will be available.

Flaxmill Maltings Perspectives



A collection of photographic interpretations
The Friends have produced a book of images of the site, following the visual recording project which has been running for the last 12 months.
Currently being printed the book will be launched at the art exhibition preview, which will be on the 12th of September from 6:30 pm at the Flaxmill Maltings. All are welcome to attend.

Art exhibition




As part of the Heritage open Days the Friends will be hosting an art exhibition in the Cross Mill. 
This will feature a large and varied selection of work from local artists. 
There will be a preview of the show on the evening of Friday the 12th of September between 6:30 and 8:00 pm. Please come and join us, enjoy a glass of wine and 
meet the artists whilst viewing the work.

 

Evening Tour 


The Friends will be running a public guided tour of the Flaxmill Maltings on September 26th.

The tour is free, but numbers are limited.
